Five years ago when l purchased a Fox Trotter for trail rides little I did know where it would lead. I soon began attending K.C.R.F.T.H.A. meetings and became interesting in showing. I purchased Mountain Man’s Lady Bug from Billy Johnson after she won reserve champion in the open mare class at the 1988 Mid-America 2 year old futurity, and began showing her as a 3 year old. At times she has been a real challenge but has proven well worth that challenge by placing in several events over the last three show seasons. Some of which include the 1989 K.C.R.F.T.H.A. 3 years and under class champions, 1st at the 1990 Ava Celebration in the out-of-state class, and at the 1991 Ava Celebration she placed 2nd in the amateur mares, 5 years & older class, 1st in the amateur three years and older class (no professional training 60 days prior to show), as well as placing 1st in the mares 4 years and older ladies class with Sharon Jolly riding. Although whether she places first or last, I still think she is one of the best mares showing.
