Judges’ Procedures using the Pool System for Outside Arena Judges

(Updated Policy – BOD passed 7.26.24)

  • The option to judge inside or outside the arena will be available options to choose from on the Judges Availability Form. The judges’ pool can be added to throughout the week as judges’ availability changes.
  • Outside judging positions are voluntary, they will be held to the same standards as the center ring judges, excluding the dress code. (No Cell Phones or Smart Watches allowed)
  • Dress code for outside judges will be business casual.
  • Judges will be drawn by using the same process used for the inside judges.
  • Outside arena judges will be placed in designated box seats on the second row, boxes will be visibly marked as designated judges’ boxes.
  • Outside judges will be monitored by the Judges Committee and Show Management
  • Outside judges will be announced each night along with the center ring judges.
  • Outside judges scores will be displayed on the final placement sheet & Horse Show Tracker by name.
  • In the event of a complaint the judges committee shall be made aware of such immediately.
  • In the event of a conflict, any carded judge (excluding carded board members) will be able to step in and complete that class for the judge with a conflict. This will be limited to one class/night.
  • The BOD directors will determine the maximum number of outside judges to be used for each show. For the 2024 Show and Celebration, the maximum number of outside judges will be 4.
