4P’s Horses and Magic Horse Auction Support Ranch Sorting Through Sponsorship
4P’s Horses and Magic Horse Auction, with approval from the MFTHBA Board of Directors, is providing a sponsorship for the Ranch Sorting Competition at both the Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity and the World Show and Celebration.
This generous sponsorship is enabling the MFTHBA to lower the one-time cattle fee from $40 to $20 per rider. “We greatly appreciate their support of the ranch sorting competition,” shared Mark Mackie, MFTHBA President.
A growing area of competition, ranch sorting has seen a growing number of teams since it debuted in 2017. This growth has been in large part because of the expertise and support of Cornerstone Productions. “We are lucky to have Jeff Holman and his team at Cornerstone Productions back this year as our stock contractor and event coordinator,” added Mr. Mackie.
Ranch sorting at the Spring Show will be held on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with competition starting at 9 a.m. Rules for the two days of sorting are set by Cornerstone Productions.
New this year, riders will be required to provide their horse’s registration number and name when they register. “Collecting this information will allow the MFTHBA to record official results from the sorting in the horse’s permanent record,” shared Alexis Zastoupil, Region 3 Director. Riders will also need to provide their MFTHBA membership number.
Each rider will be required to pay a one time $20 cattle fee. This fee will apply to both days of sorting. An MFTHBA representative will be available each morning to collect this fee and the horse and rider information.
Entry into the sorting competition will be handle the same as year’s past. Fees are $10 per person, per run. Only cash is accepted for ranch sorting entry fees. Payment must be made in order to participate in the Ranch Sorting Class or Jackpot.
The competition format is also not changing. Ranch sorting classes will be held on Friday followed by a jackpot on Saturday.
