Fillies Dominate 2016 Three Year Old Futurity Entries
Ninety-nine horses have been nominated to participate in the 2016 Three Year Old Futurity this coming June, an increase of 16 percent over 2015 entries this time last year.
“We are excited to see the number of entries increase for the second straight year,” stated Dr. Joyce Graening, MFTHBA President.
The breakdown of the list shows the majority of horses nominated are fillies. Sixty-three of the 99 nominees to be exact. A few other items of note from the nomination list include that nominees were sired by 53 different stallions, which is an increase over the 2015 nomination list. In addition, the nominee’s represent the breeding programs of more than 70 different breeders.
The MFTHBA Three Year Old Futurity offers a unique opportunity to highlight the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse’s disposition. During the event, the nominated three year olds will participate in their very first performance show. “These young horses will be experiencing their first show when they enter the ring on Thursday night. It is a testament to the willing disposition of the breed that they respond so well. Our members put a great deal of work into preparing their horses for this event,” said Graening.
The 37th Annual Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity is scheduled for June 8-11, 2016 at the MFTHBA World Headquarters in Ava, Missouri. In addition to the Three Year Old Futurity, the event will include performance and versatility competition for horses of all ages. The MFTHBA will again host a Trail Obstacle Challenge Jackpot as well as daily trail rides. The MFTHBA Youth Committee will host the annual National Youth Seminar during the event.
A complete show schedule should be released soon.
