Sometimes things come together in a way you never imagined. At the 2014 World Show and Celebration, the MFT Stallion Tour gave away two tickets to attend the 2015 Tour. Six weeks later, the Stallion Tour Planning committee received an exciting call. “I had a phone message from Diana Pernicka asking me to call her about the Stallion Tour. When we finally connected she told me she was interested in having her farm as a Tour stop,” shared Tour committee member, Amber Wilson. “When I asked her how she heard about the Tour, she said she had won the tickets at the Celebration.” Alias Smith and Jones Ranch has recently relocated to Missouri from Colorado.
In early November, a few committee members stopped by to meet Mrs. Pernicka and see the facility located in Rogersville, Missouri. The committee was extremely impressed from the moment we drove up the drive and knew the facility offered what was needed for the MFT Stallion Tour. “Diana keeps her place clean, orderly, and runs it very efficiently. I think that this location will be a great addition to the Stallion Tour and feel attendees will enjoy the opportunity to see this exemplary facility and stallions will benefit from all of the extras that this location has to offer,” shared Danielle Anthony, MFT Stallion Tour committee member.
“This tour stop will be very convenient for Stallion Tour owners due to the fact that they will have an excellent arena to warm their horses up in before showcasing them. Alias Smith & Jones Ranch is an ideal spot for hosting this event. The facility is right off of 60 highway in Rogersville, MO and her farm has a great area for truck and trailer parking and turnaround,” Anthony added.
We are very excited to have Alias Smith & Jones Ranch as part of the 2015 MFT Stallion Tour. To provide more information on the farm we asked Alias Smith & Jones Ranch to provide us a short biography.
“Alias Smith and Jones Ranch was established in 1864. It relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1990 and subsequently to Rogersville, Missouri
Even though we are new to your area, we have been in the business of breeding and training horses for 50 Years, starting with Arabs, some Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds. Our introduction to Missouri Fox Trotters came by chance. A friend had 2 for sale and after one ride I bought them both. The older one became my endurance horse and was eventually sold to John DiPietra, (1989 100 Mile AERC winner), because he couldn’t believe a MFT could out do an Arab. My boy did, on his first ride, he took first place with the best of condition after a 100 miles.
We found the Fox Trotter to have great stamina and a willingness to please, wrap that up in a gait to die for and you have the perfect companion. Wanting to share this outstanding discovery, we purchased Missouri’s Blue Moon and stood him to some Red Rawhide mares, plus some Traveler mares. The combination gave us outstanding examples of the breed and all they could accomplish. Our customers were delighted.
After 3 years and many states, of looking for the perfect place to present our horses, we came across this stunning facility. We are proud to be able to provide the Fox Trotter community a venue for displaying their horses and allow them the opportunity to also see our horses.
My goal has always been to match the prefect horse with the perfect family, whether you are looking for the first horse in your life or the last.
Thank You for allowing us this opportunity,”
