The Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA) is pleased to announce the upcoming Judges Training Seminar, scheduled for Wednesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. The seminar will be held in the Hall of Fame Meeting Room located in Ava, Missouri.

This seminar is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in becoming licensed MFTHBA judges or for current judges seeking a refresher on judging practices and standards. The seminar fee is $25, which includes the judge’s card.

Registration is required and must be completed by Thursday, June 6, through the MFTHBA office. Space may be limited, so we encourage early registration.

Seminar Requirements

Before attending the in-person seminar, participants must complete several preparatory steps:

• Review the MFTHBA Rule Book.

• Watch the following videos, available on the MFTHBA website under the Education tab:

  • Gaits of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse

  • MFTHBA Judging Seminar (2-day version)

• Complete the written Judges Test, available under Forms and Downloads > Judges Forms > Judges Test on the MFTHBA website.

• Bring your completed Judges Test with you to the seminar.

This preparation ensures that all attendees come to the seminar with a foundational understanding of the breed standards and judging expectations.

Apprentice Judging Opportunity

As an added benefit, participants who attend the seminar will have the opportunity to serve as apprentice judges during the MFTHBA Spring Show and Three-Year-Old Futurity. This hands-on experience provides valuable insight into real-time judging and offers participants a chance to apply what they have learned.
