MFTHBA Medal Program

2 Program Goals The MFTHBA Medal Program provides an opportunity to recognize the achievements of MFTHBA and MFTPR registered horses. The program will: • Recognize horse accomplishments in a wide variety of activities • Provide future owners documentation of the horse’s experience increasing the potential value of the horse Recognition Levels The program will offer two levels in each category: Silver and Gold. • Silver: This level will recognize a minimum level of accomplishment within a category. Typically point requirements should indicate a dedicated commitment for 1-2 years to obtain the needed points to earn a medal. • Gold: This level shows significant experience within a category. Typically point requirements should double that of the silver level. In addition to recognition within specific categories, the program will also recognize the overall versatility of participating horses. Two recognition levels will recognize horses based on their achievements in a wide variety of categories. • All-Around: This award recognizes a horse that earns a silver medal in 50% of the available categories (i.e., if there are 16 categories, a horse would need to reach the silver level in 8). • Supreme All-Around: This award recognizes a horse that earns a silver medal in 75% of the available categories (i.e., if there are 16 categories, a horse would need to reach the silver level in 12). Participation and Fees To participate in the program, owners will need to nominate their horse and pay a fee. The fee will be considered a lifetime fee. If the horse is nominated at the time of registration (before the horse is 18 months old), the fee will be $15. For horses nominated after the initial registration, the lifetime fee will be $50. To earn points, the owner must be a member of the MFTHBA in good standing. Points earned when the owner of record is not a member will be invalid. There will be a one-time option for horses to submit past points. These points must be submitted within 6 months of the initial nomination. To submit past points, a completed historical points record must be submitted for each category along with official documents indicating the placings. In addition, a $15 per category documentation fee will be charged. Historical points may not be submitted for the Breeding category.
