About The Stallion Tour

The Stallion Tour began in 2012 in response to a Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA) survey.  On the survey, respondents indicated that stallion owners would like assistance with marketing, breeders were looking for information resources, and that everyone was interested in unique, non-competitive, educational events.  From those comments, the Stallion Tour was born.  Held in 2012 and 2013, the Tour is now scheduled to be held every odd year.

Since its start, the Stallion Tour has continued to grow.  If you have a love for the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse, the Stallion Tour has something to offer you.

The Stallion Tour offers Missouri Fox Trotting Horse stallions owners a unique, cost effective way to market their stallions.  Most people focus on Tour day, but the true value for our stallion owners reaches well beyond Tour weekend.  Participating stallions benefit from:

• Print Advertising: The Stallion Tour publishes a high-end, full color program which features each participating stallion.  In addition to being distributed to Stallion Tour attendees in October 2017, it is also distributed at equine expos around the United States.  The Stallion Tour also places print advertising in key Missouri Fox Trotting Horse publications.  These advertisements often include participating stallion information.  The Tour even produced its own calendar in 2016 featuring participating Stallions.
• Website: In 2015, the Stallion Tour launched a special website where each participating stallion has a page featuring pictures, accomplishments and general information.  This page is available through the two year entry period and can be updated at the stallion owners request.
• Social Media: In today’s world, social media plays an important role in marketing. The Stallion Tour markets participating stallions on our Facebook page.

For those breeding mares, the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Stallion Tour is your one stop shop for comparing stallions.  The Stallion Tour offers breeders various ways to acquire information on stallions:

• Stallion Tour Event: There is no better way to determine the best stallion for your mare than to see stallion exhibited in one day for easy comparison.  See them in person or in a detailed video to help you determine how the stallion will cross with your mare plus get the opportunity to discuss the stallion with their owners and other breeders.
• Prospect Sale: During the first two Stallion Tours, breeders were adamant that they wanted the opportunity to see stallion offspring as a way to further evaluate the appropriateness of a stallion for their breeding program.  In 2015, we are launching the Prospect Sale the Sunday following the Stallion Tour to give breeders that opportunity.
• Website: In 2015, the Stallion Tour launched a special website where each participating stallion will have a page featuring pictures, accomplishments and general information.  There is no other site like it within our breed.  This site will provide breeders an opportunity to find valuable information on available stallions and compare them in one place.
• Social Media: In today’s world, social media plays an important role in marketing. The Stallion Tour Facebook page provides breeders another place to find out information on participating stallions.

Even if you are not a stallion owner or a breeder, the Stallion Tour is a unique opportunity for all Missouri Fox Trotting Horse enthusiasts.  The Tour offers a great way to connect with fellow owners, learn about the breed or just see beautiful horses during a fun event.  Years from now when people ask if any had the opportunity to see a certain stallion, participants will be able to say Yes!
