Exciting Opportunities Await Youth at the 2025 MFTHBA Youth Seminar in Ava, Missouri
The Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA) is delighted to announce its annual Youth Seminar, taking place on Tuesday, June 10, at the MFTHBA Showgrounds in Ava, Missouri. This seminar is designed for young horse enthusiasts of all skill levels and is a free, full-day event for individuals aged 17 and under. Whether you are new to horses or already participate in competitions, this engaging and educational day offers something for everyone!
The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a full schedule of hands-on learning experiences and interactive clinics. Participants will rotate through a variety of seminar sessions focused on leather crafts, versatility, performance, and model clinics. There will also be a special clinic on horse hoof care, providing attendees the opportunity to learn how to keep horses healthy and sound. Each session is designed to educate, allowing young participants to work alongside experienced professionals and connect with fellow horse enthusiasts.
Lunch is provided for youth participants, featuring a pizza meal to allow attendees to unwind, recharge, and make new friends.
The educational portion of the day concludes at 3:15 p.m., followed by a break before the evening fun show begins at 6:00 p.m. This event, which has no entry fee, will take place in the versatility arena and is specifically designed for youth. It will feature a variety of classes suitable for different ages and experience levels. Events will be available for all youth, regardless of whether they own horses. Most classes are open to all breeds of horses.
“The Youth Seminar is one of the highlights of the year,” said Amber Wilson, MFTHBA President. “It’s a chance for young people to build confidence, learn new skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse. Most importantly, it’s about making memories and having fun.”
Attendance is free, and all youth aged 17 and under are welcome to participate. Whether you’re a local resident or traveling from another part of the country, we encourage families to bring their young riders—or future riders—for this fun-filled day.
