Spring Show Schedule Released

2016 Spring Show logo Lime Green 1-1-2016The schedule for the 2016 Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity has been released.  The schedule was presented by the MFTHBA Show Committee at the February Board of Directors meeting.  The committee evaluated class entries to determine what classes may need to be altered to maximize entry numbers.  “The committee looked at entry numbers from the past four years.  Classes with traditionally low entry numbers over that time period were evaluated.  Some were eliminated and others were combined with other classes,” shared Bobbie Williams, MFTHBA Show Committee Chairman.

“Our goal is to provide exhibitors a diverse offering of classes; however, we also want to ensure we are maximizing class entries in each offered class.  The Board appreciates the effort of the Show Committee to come up with a show schedule that meets this objective,” added Dr. Joyce Graening, MFTHBA President.

A few changes that exhibitors will notice include:

  • Several Amateur Owned and Trained classes were adjusted to No Professional Training 90-day classes.
  • Open Amateur 3 year old classes were combined with the 4 year old classes. “The non-Futurity three year old classes have traditionally been very small at the Spring Show,” shared Williams.
  • The Open Amateur 5 Years and Older classes were moved from a Mares/Studs & Gelding preliminary to an A/B split. All exhibitors will enter the A class.  The class will be evenly split with the split posted prior to the start of the show.
  • The following classes will not have preliminary classes:
    • Open 4 Years and Older
    • Ladies 5 Years and Older
    • Ladies Amateur Owned 5 Years and Older
  • There will only be one Youth Equitation class.

In addition to the changes mentioned above, the committee added two classes to the schedule.  “The Men’s 4 Years & Older class was added during the Spring Show last year and had strong entries, so the committee felt it should be included again this year,” added Williams.

After a large turnout at the 2015 World Show and Celebration, the committee also decided to include the Mars/Venus class in the Spring Show.

With 100 horses already entered into the 2016 Three Year Old Futurity, signs point to increased turnout for this year’s Spring Show.  “We had a successful event in 2015, and 2016 is looking to be even better,” shared Dr. Graening.
