Youth All Around Competition Coming to Spring Show, Money Added for Top 5

Branching out and trying new things is a staple for young people.  The newly established Youth All Around Competition debuting at the Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity offers riders 17 and under a unique opportunity to try new things and be rewarded in the process.

Competitors will be vying to be named either the Youth All-Around Champion in the Youth 11 and under or Youth 12-17 divisions.  Winners will walk away with a custom belt buckle.  In addition, thanks to Cantrell Stables of Conway, Missouri, the top 5 in each division will walk away with a little bit of cash.

“This series provides our youth with an opportunity to show their horse in several events, or show different horses in several events.  It provides incentive to try some new things with their horse and experience the versatility of the great Missouri Fox Trotter,” shared Lisa Cantrell, owner of Cantrell Stables with her husband, Danny.  “The Three Year Old Futurity showcases the Three Year Old Horse, but another main focus of this show is to provide opportunities and education to our youth.  We are excited to see the youth get to participate and be rewarded for promoting the Missouri Fox Trotter.  Good luck to all participants!”

There will be $200 distributed in each division with the break down by place being: 1st 25%– $50; 2nd 23%– $46; 3rd 20%– $40; 4th 17%–$34; and 5th 15%–$30.

Participating in the competition is easy.  Interested youth members should sign up in the MFTHBA office when they arrive at the Spring Show.  Those that register will be recognized on Saturday night during the evening performance to acknowledge their efforts throughout the week.  When the youth competitor signs up, they will receive a Youth All-Around Form to complete throughout the week.

To qualify for the award, youth must participate in at least three categories.  Categories include Horsemanship/Equitation, Model, Performance, Versatility, Trail and Cattle Classes. Classes eligible to count toward the competition are listed on the form.  Youth competitors will need to track their accomplishments listing the highest placing from eligible classes in each category.  Only one placing per category may be listed.

Youth exhibitors may also earn up to 3 bonus points during the week by participating in other events.  These events include the Youth Seminar scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, attending one day of the ranch sorting clinic schedule for June 7 and 8, and participating in one of the National Trail Rides scheduled throughout the week.

Completed forms must be turned in to the Fox Trot Store prior to closing on Saturday, June 10 or emailed to the MFTHBA office by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12.  Final calculations will be conducted by the MFTHBA office, with the winners announced by June 16.
