”Whorle” Dies

By Ernie Long

Whorle F-307, also known as Whirl-A Way, died February 2nd. She was an own daughter of Golden Governor, her dam was Shirley own daughter of Merry Boy. “Whirl” was 32 years old.

Whirl was a regular in the show ring when she was young, shown by Orin Pierce and Ansel Davis of Grove Springs, Mo. During her show career was when Dutch Snyder, Otis Woods, Jim Williams, Kinder Easter and many others were competing in the senior mare classes.

Later on-Whirl became a brood mare and produced many great Whirl-a-way 307Fox Trotting horses. Among them was Golden Fox, her first foal which was a twin. This was the little yellow mare that my son and two daughters showed for many years.

Whirl also was the dam of “Duke the Commander” 1978 World Champion Model Horse. She is also the dam of Koscot’s Whirlwind. This great fox Trotting mare has offspring scattered all over the country.

A top show mare, broodmare and family horse, another “Grand Old Lady” made her contribution to the Fox Trot breed and is missed.
