MFTHBA Events

Each year, the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association hosts a variety of events that welcome guests from across the country—and around the world. From premier championship competitions to trail rides, clinics, and educational opportunities, MFTHBA events are designed to celebrate the Missouri Fox Trotter while fostering learning, camaraderie, and a shared love of the breed.

We invite you to join us at one or more of the following signature MFTHBA events.

World Show and Celebration

World-class competition takes center stage each September at the MFTHBA World Show and Celebration, held the week of Labor Day. This premier event showcases the best of the Missouri Fox Trotter across performance, model, versatility, ranch sorting, and ranch horse divisions.  Special events throughout the week create opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts, celebrate achievements, and experience the depth of the MFTHBA community.  Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are available.  Learn more at MFTHBA.com/celebration.

Spring Show and Three-Year-Old Futurity

Each June, horses and exhibitors from across the country gather at the MFTHBA World Headquarters for the MFTHBA Spring Show and Three-Year-Old Futurity. This four-day event features competition in performance, model, versatility, and ranch sorting classes.  The highlight of the event is the Three-Year-Old Futurity, where young horses make their showing debut, offering a first look at the natural disposition, talent, and comfortable gait that define the Missouri Fox Trotter.  The Spring Show also includes a Youth Seminar, vendors, and additional special events—creating a welcoming atmosphere for exhibitors, families, and spectators alike.  Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are available.  Learn more at MFTHBA.com/springshow.

MFTHBA Cowboy Classic

The MFTHBA Cowboy Classic is an exciting, all-breed event held the second weekend in October at the MFTHBA Showgrounds in Ava. Designed to be both competitive and approachable, the Cowboy Classic highlights practical horsemanship in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

This event includes:

  • Educational clinics

  • A Trail Obstacle Challenge that tests confidence, trust, and partnership

  • Ranch Sorting, offering fast-paced, team-based competition

The Cowboy Classic reflects the MFTHBA’s commitment to versatility and inclusion, welcoming Missouri Fox Trotters and horses of all breeds to participate side by side.

Annual Youth Seminar

Held in conjunction with the Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity, the Annual Youth Seminar provides youth members with an opportunity to expand their equine knowledge and skills. This one-day educational event is open to youth ages 6 to 17 and features topics that vary each year, emphasizing horsemanship, leadership, and involvement in the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse community.

National Trail Rides

MFTHBA National Trail Rides bring members together at beautiful locations throughout the year. Each official ride lasts a minimum of two days and welcomes riders of all breeds.  MFTHBA members riding a registered Missouri Fox Trotting Horse may earn credit toward National Trail Ride awards simply by participating. The program is designed to be inclusive, relaxed, and rewarding—celebrating time spent in the saddle and the camaraderie built along the trail. Learn more at MFTHBA.com/programs/national-trail-ride-program/.

MFTHBA Carded Judges Clinics

Periodically, the MFTHBA hosts MFTHBA Judges Clinics to card new MFTHBA judges. These clinics are the first step for individuals interested in becoming an MFTHBA-carded judge.
