2015 Sportsmanship Award Winner Announced

MFT Full LogoGood sportsmanship is part of the tradition of equine events.  Whether it is following rules and playing fair at a horses show, lending a hand to a fellow trail rider, or treating fellow equestrians with respect and courtesy, MFTHBA members exhibit good sportsmanship on a daily basis.  The MFTHBA Sportsmanship Award was designed to recognize MFTHBA members who exemplify the principles of good sportsmanship and consistently put them into practice.

MFTHBA members nominated three members for this year’s award:    Darrell Martin, Jenny Vaught, and Amber Wilson.  “As always, it is challenging to pick just one winner for this award,” shared Dr. Joyce Graening.  While it wasn’t an easy task, the MFTHBA membership did in fact decide the winner of the 2015 Sportsmanship Award.

This year, the MFTHBA will honor Darrell Martin with the award.  Mr. Martin had two nominations for the award.  Both nomination letters highlighted the fact that Mr. Martin is always there to lend a helping hand to fellow competitors, new exhibitors, and anyone who might need help, including the MFTHBA.  Mr. Martin has volunteered his time over the past couple of years to decorate the gazebo for both the Spring Show and the World Show and Celebration.

The MFTHBA appreciates all members who practice good sportsmanship.  Congratulations to Mr. Martin on being recognized by the MFTHBA membership as the 2015 Sportsmanship Award winner.  He will be formally recognized at the 2016 Spring Show and Three Year Old Futurity this coming June.
