IFTHA National Trail Ride

Sponsored by Illinois Fox Trotter Horse Association June 3-24, 2018 at Bay Creek Ranch, Shawnee National Forest, Simpson IL. Facilities: Water and Electric hookup available for $30 per day (2 adults and 2 kids) $3 additional person per night. Primitive camping available. Lodge with fully equipped kitchen, 13 miles from Vienna IL. Potluck dinner on Saturday evening. Covered stalls at $10, turnout pen for $5 per day or highline your horse. There is a daily rider fee of $2. Trail Information: Ride the new, improved trails through beautiful woods, rock bluffs, caves and creeks. There are multiple trail heads leaving camp. The trails vary from peaceful pine forests to the more challenging bluff areas. Shoes are recommended for your horse/mules. Trails are well marked and detailed maps are available. The trails are shared with hikers, rock climber and fisherman. Access to: River to River Trail, Maxwell Ford, Peter Cave, Jackson Falls, Colorado Gulch, Flat Rock, Cove Hollow, Crow Knob, Sand Cave, Fern Cave, Bay Creek, Hayes Creek, Soldier’s Grave, Petticoat Junction, Miller’s Grove and Buffalo Rock. Please have your horses registered name and registration number and your MFTHBA member# for the reporting form. Participants are responsible for making their own camping arrangements.
